The Firefly Poems

Adding some new poems from the summertime here. These are from a month-long camping trip we took down to southern Ohio… a beautiful spot on the river, full of magic.

Poem I:

In this new place
We will go to bed with the fireflies
In silence so strong you can hear them buzzing
Round your head
With the languid river out ahead
Just barely visible in the dusk light
We will go to bed with the fireflies
Catching their tails in our dreams
And riding their light until dawn

Poem II:

Someplace safe in the darkness
With only bullfrogs and fireflies
Nothing to harm you
Nothing to catch you but your dreams
There is such a fullness in the night here
Such a gentle quiet to this place
A place where you can be found
