ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sarah Treanor is an Akron-based fine artist whose work transforms Northeast Ohio’s foraged native plants into quiet, contemplative mixed-media artworks. Over the past decade, she has developed an evocative visual vocabulary rooted in the regional landscape, translating regional specimens—including wild grasses, woodland fern fronds, fallen seed pods, and botanical tannins—into layered, tactile artworks through cyanotype, encaustic wax, eco-printing, and ceramics.
Her work captures the delicate balance between microscopic botanical structures and vast atmospheric stillness. Rather than treating organic materials merely as decorative motifs, she engages the physical chemistry of the plants themselves, revealing cellular-level venation and organic tannin reactions that ground each piece in a specific time and place. Treanor’s fine art pieces and limited runs have been exhibited across the United States, licensed for international book covers, and featured in numerous publications. Her work is held in private and public collections worldwide, supported by an engaged direct patron community.
