SERIES CREATED IN 2025

Collective Wisdom

This series of mixed media collages is a meditation on the quiet power of shared knowledge and the beauty of accumulated experience. Each piece was created using fragments—cutoffs from previous works, remnants that once seemed forgotten. These fragments hold history. By repurposing them, I honor the past, and by layering them with newly explored techniques in acrylic, I step into the present and future.

This interplay of old and new mirrors how we learn: by building on what has come before, while allowing ourselves to evolve and experiment. These collages represent not just the physical layering of materials, but the invisible layering of memory, knowledge, and influence. Each panel becomes a quiet record of what has been gathered - skills, stories, lessons, mistakes, and moments of inspiration.

SUMMERTIME

When I think of summer, I think of the warmth and the wind. Growing up on the Texas gulf coast, we had impossibly long summers. I loved everything about it: the heat, the winds off the gulf, the sand finding its way everywhere along the breeze. Even now, where I live in Ohio, I still dream back to those days. Summer heat is short-lived in Ohio, each season here is fleeting. On the one hand, it means you appreciate all the seasons very deeply, but I never quite get the long summers I miss. Still, there is a vibrant lushness to summer here that I love equally.

Created by eco-printing with local area plants, these pieces represent a melding of those two worlds and my favorite things about them . . . both the lushness and the sun-kissed warmth. Both the wind-swept sands of my childhood and the vibrant forest plants of my life now.

CHASING BLOOMS

Growing up, I remember things feeling so magical. We spent endless hours outdoors... riding bikes, building forts, making up fantasy worlds that we lived in until dinnertime. Still today, I am forever rediscovering that sense of wonder out in nature - while hiking, bird watching, or sleeping in hammocks under the stars. This series harkens back to those early years and the sense of magic I have always found in nature. The process involves combining eco-prints and cyanotypes with bright encaustic wax layers. This kind of work always leaves me chasing the wonders of nature - where wildflowers open their faces to the sun and all of life seems simpler and more magical. This body of work is continuing and evolving from some original works in 2023. Below are two sub-sets created for different galleries.
