Bring a cheerful bit of nature into your home or office with this original encaustic painting!

This beautiful piece of wall art was created from one of my original tree photographs near my Ohio home and studio. The layers of wax over top of the photo give it an interesting texture and really make make it a truly one-of-a-kind piece!

Dimensions:

8x8 inches square, with a depth of half an inch.

Details:

- Beautiful brushstrokes and texture!

- The sides of the panel are deep purple, giving a nice pop of color.

- Signed by hand on the back by me, the artist!

- No frame needed, it arrives ready to hang!

The Process:

Each encaustic piece begins with one of my original photographs. I carefully process each image to have a look and feel that suits it, and then it is printed and mounted on a wood panel. From there, the fun begins! Laying wax over the image, I experiment with various textures and layers that add depth and character to the original photograph underneath. Occasionally I add other types of media such as charcoal, acrylic paint, or gold leaf when I feel it adds to the image. The sides are typically painted with acrylic and then coated with clear wax, but I also use wood stain, colored wax, shellac and other methods when it works. Once done, the entire piece gets a final buff to bring out all the colors and then it's ready for it's forever home!

I use top quality encaustic materials from R&F and cradled wood artist panels for the best and longest lasting surfaces. Each photograph is printed with archival quality as well, to eliminate any possibility of fading over time.

About Encaustic Care:

With proper care, encaustic paintings will last a lifetime! While they're pretty durable, they are max with wax and can be subject to extreme heat or cold. To prevent any issues, just make sure you keep them living above freezing and below 90°F and you'll be enjoying their beauty for many years!

Special Shipping for Encaustic:

I ship out all encaustic pieces Priority 2-day shipping, usually on Mondays ONLY, to ensure they are not left in delivery trucks over weekends - particularly in the hot summer months. Gotta keep those beauties comfortable until they get to you!
